Diversity and equal opportunities at Generali

It’s our firm belief that the individuality and diversity of our employees enriches us and drives us forward. That is why we promote and practise equality of opportunity and why we are committed to a diverse workforce at every level of the hierarchy. We are home to employees of all ages and ensure that we have a balanced distribution of genders, both during recruitment and in promotion processes.

WORK-LIFE BALANCE AT GENERALI

We want to be a lifetime partner for our employees, too – so we set great store by work-life integration. Diverse life situations call for flexible working models, which is why we support our employees in striking a balance between their personal and professional lives.

Part time

We advertise all our jobs as part-time positions. You can even reduce your working hours during the course of your employment, in consultation with your manager. At Generali, 32 per cent of our employees work part-time

Remote working

Remote working plays a major role in enabling employees to strike a balance between their leisure time and their work. This is why, at Generali, you can work from home for up to 60 per cent of your working hours.

Six weeks of holidays

All our office staff receive six weeks of annual leave, with field service employees receiving five weeks: we want you to have the opportunity to devote more time to your family, hobbies or other leisure activities.

Childcare

Our two main locations in Adliswil and Nyon have a kindergarten where our employees’ children can be looked after on site from the age of three months until they start nursery. Their parents benefit from reduced fees.

Unpaid leave

We are aware that life can give rise to situations where you need a bit more time away from work. This is why you can take up to two weeks of unpaid leave every year from your second year of employment onwards. Plus, every three years, you can take a continuous period of unpaid leave lasting up to two calendar months.

Parental leave

We pay 100% of your salary for 14 weeks of maternity leave. Non-biological fathers and mothers are also entitled to ten days of paid parental leave.

ZERO-DISCRIMINATION WORKPLACE

Inclusive language

All are welcome at Generali, and the way we communicate is key to ensuring that everyone is included. Language creates and shapes the world around us. Anyone who is linguistically underrepresented loses out. As a result, we have drawn up our own language guidelines to encourage inclusive, fair language at our company.

Diversability

As part of its diversity, equity and inclusion strategy, Generali takes part in MyAbility Talent each year. The programme brings together companies and highly qualified students with disabilities, with the aim of making it easier for these students to enter the world of work.

LGBTQI+

At Generali, diversity also means respecting different identities and supporting LGBTQI+ rights. We founded our global LGBTQI+ Employee Resource Group in 2020, which now has over 800 members worldwide.

Fair pay

For us, it’s a given that the same performance should receive the same pay. We are committed to equal pay and received the “We pay fair” seal from the University of St. Gallen in 2019.

Internal networks and memberships

DE&I community

We have a local DE&I (diversity, equity & inclusion) community. This employee resource group focuses on every possible topic in this field and represents employees within the company. We have a coordinating office in HR, but our DE&I community is also embedded within the various departments, which, in turn, enables us to better respond to employees’ needs.

Advance

Since 2019, we have been a member of Advance – Gender Equality in Business, a network promoting gender equality.

Diversity Benchmarking

The St. Gallen Diversity Benchmarking at the University of St. Gallen has been collecting crucial KPIs on diversity for more than ten years. These figures are analysed objectively, efficiently, and in line with the human resources process. By participating in this Diversity Benchmarking, we are signalling that inclusion, openness and diversity are important to us.

Our “we pay fair” seal of approval from the University of St. Gallen testifies to the fact that our salaries comply with the principle of “equal pay for work of equal value”.

Generali is convinced that gender equality in the workplace is an asset for men, women, the economy and society. We are part of the “Advance” business association, which campaigns for equality between women and men in Switzerland. This is a network of over 100 companies based in Switzerland. The association is also committed to increasing the proportion of women in management positions.
